For men's and women's college basketball teams, the journey begins this weekend. Some programs will stage the traditional 'Midnight Madness' showcases tonight. Others will open with lower-profile practice sessions on Saturday.
The idea is to position a team for March Madness, the NCAA Tournament, and this season's events should be an especially fun time for the Tampa Bay area's basketball lovers.
Eight men's teams will head to the St. Pete Times Forum on March 21 and 23 for early-round games.
Then, on April 6 and 8, the Women's Final Four arrives at the Forum, the first time it has been held in Florida. The Forum also holds a women's basketball doubleheader on Nov. 15 - Duke vs. USF, followed by Tennessee vs. Oklahoma.
