ST. PETERSBURG - Detectives say they have made an arrest in a midday home invasion in which the intruder pretended to know the victim's son.
Lawrence Donnell Seaberry, 19, of 2301 Dartmouth Ave. N., was arrested Thursday night, police said Friday.
At 1 p.m. Wednesday, Seaberry and another person drove up to the victim's house, St. Petersburg Police Department Sgt. Al White said in a news release.
Seaberry went to the front door and asked the man living there about his son, White said. Without opening the door, the victim replied he had not seen his son in years.
Seaberry then went back to the Monte Carlo and got a gas receipt with a telephone number on it, White said. He asked the man to give the note to his son, White said.
Once the man opened the door, Seaberry attacked, hitting the man on the head with a handgun as they struggled, White said. Then Seaberry got back in the vehicle and left with the other person, White said.
Seaberry was arrested a half block from his residence, White said. He was carrying a tote bag with 448 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, White said.
Seaberry was charged with armed home invasion, trafficking in cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, White said.
