THE DIFFERENCE: Middleton had a hard time getting into a groove in the first quarter, but after a 2-yard touchdown run by Carlton Jones, the Tigers developed a prominent threat that lasted the whole contest.
GAME NOTES: After the Jones score, the Tigers got another boost of confidence as Gregory Hickman picked off an Andrew Clifford pass and returned it 40 yards for a score. … After that it was all Middleton with another Jones run for a score and Jonathan Allen scoring twice, a 6-yard run and 10-yard pass from DeAndra Presley. … Wharton got a small boost of confidence late in the fourth quarter when Andreas Sheilds scored on a 7-yard pass from Clifford.
STAT OF THE GAME: Middleton's consistent running game allowed them to outgain Wharton on the ground as the Tigers finished with 163 yards against the Wildcats' 124.
