TAMPA - Dog lovers are invited to participate in Stride for Strays, a one-mile pet walk today to benefit the Animal Coalition of Tampa.
The event is from 9 a.m. to noon at Al Lopez Park, 4900 N. Himes Ave., and will feature rock music by the Johnny G Lyon Band, demonstrations, contests, and animal-related goods and services. Families and their dogs are encouraged to participate. Food and beverages will be available.
Rescue groups from across the area, including Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid Florida, will showcase animals available for adoption.
The event draws participants from across the Tampa Bay area and is the annual major fundraiser for the Animal Coalition's low-cost neutering clinic at 1719 W. Lemon St. in Tampa. The clinic recently celebrated its first anniversary. Since opening, about 5,000 cats and dogs have been sterilized.
For information about the pet walk, call Linda Hamilton at (813) 760-1568 or Judy Hill at (727) 453-8555. Or visit www.Strideforstrays.org or www.Actampa.org.
