1. SENATORS: Back to their high-scoring ways, and G Martin Gerber has been pretty good.
2. RED WINGS: Can't sell out Joe Louis Arena, but they're still worth watching.
3. LIGHTNING: So far, goaltending has been the team's strength.
4. WILD: Scored only six goals in first three games, but allowed only two.
5. HURRICANES: Have come back hungry after missing playoffs last year.
6. CAPITALS: Addition of Michael Nylander makes them a threat in Southeast.
7. PENGUINS: Looks like Sidney Crosby left his scoring touch on the set of his latest commercial.
8. CANADIENS: D Andrei Markov has made sure they don't miss Sheldon Souray's scoring punch.
9. ISLANDERS: The addition of former Lightning F Ruslan Fedotenko has made all the difference.
10. FLYERS: Daniel Briere can take out a window pane from 60 feet, but can he lift this team back into the postseason?
11. STARS: Came into weekend as only team in Pacific Division with more goals scored than allowed.
12. PREDATORS: Attendance is way down in Nashville, which doesn't bode well for the prospective buyers.
13. SHARKS: Jonathan Cheechoo off to another poor start (zero points in four games).
14. RANGERS: Still were waiting for former Devils C Scott Gomez to dent the scoresheet after three games.
15. SABRES: No Daniel Briere, no Chris Drury, no chance they'll be as good as last season.
16. BLUES: Things are looking up with Paul Kariya in the fold.
17. BLUE JACKETS: Two games, two shutouts for G Pascal Leclaire? If this keeps up, this team might win a few this year.
18. AVALANCHE: Second-year C Paul Stastny picking up where he left off (three games, eight points).
19. OILERS: Well, GM Kevin Lowe got his man in Dustin Penner. Now what?
20. MAPLE LEAFS: Mats Sundin became team's all-time leader in goals, points. Nice touch giving him all three stars that game.
21. DUCKS: No Teemu Selanne, no Scott Niedermayer, no J.S. Giguere. No Cup repeat?
22. BRUINS: Can't afford to have C Marc Savard (lower body) out for long.
23. COYOTES: A three-way goalie competition among Alex Auld, David Aebischer and Mikael Tellqvist can't help matters.
24. PANTHERS: Looks like G Tomas Vokoun (shutout vs. New Jersey) will be OK after all.
25. CANUCKS: Would someone please make sure G Roberto Luongo (4.23 GAA) is still breathing?
26. FLAMES: One point in the first week-plus isn't a good way to start.
27. BLACKHAWKS: Nikolai Khabibulin has been good, but the rest of the team still struggles.
28. DEVILS: Through four games, G Kevin Weekes had the only victory. Martin Brodeur? Zero.
29. KINGS: Came into weekend with no victories in Western Hemisphere.
30. THRASHERS: Last year's hot start propelled them into the playoffs. This year? Not so much.
