TAMPA - Despite having his photo posted on the Internet and in local newspapers, a man police say is a con artist sat down in a popular tavern Sunday and was arrested after the bartender recognized him.

While watching a football game at Hattricks Tavern, 107 S. Franklin St., Jordan Gann talked to the bartender about renting the place for a private party, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Gann, 26, came to public attention last week after police said he bilked a local woman out of $750 and was suspected of defrauding others. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest. He has several aliases and is wanted in New Hampshire on similar charges, police said.

About 9,000 members of the Bay area's real estate association were alerted about Gann, who police said views high-end properties.

The bartender thought Gann looked familiar and went online to check media coverage, Davis said. He called police after finding Gann's photo on a news Web site.

Gann has used one of his known aliases when talking to investigators and has not admitted he is Jordan Gann, Davis said.

After questioning by detectives, Gann was transported to Orient Road Jail.
