Upset that her child got in trouble at school, a Tampa woman struck her child at least two times with an electric cord, causing permanent scarring, Tampa police say.

Markita L. Carter, 31, was arrested Saturday and charged with one count of felony aggravated child abuse. Her actions in the Sept. 21 incident caused permanent scarring on her child's left upper thigh, an arrest affidavit states.
