Little Reform On Property Taxes

I want to congratulate The Tampa Tribune for the Oct. 12 editorial 'Helping Those With No Complaints Wrong Way To Spell Tax Relief.' The tax system has created enormous disparities between citizens who are equals, and the new solution is not only to keep this disparity in place, but to allow people that already have an unfair advantage to keep this advantage forever.

In the civilized world, the majority of taxes are paid on revenues, whereas in Florida we are paying no state income tax, the sales tax is relatively low and we are trying to pay for everything with property taxes. We are kidding ourselves if we believe we can find a fair solution in a tax system that is based only on home valuations.
