DADE CITY - People gathered at Withlacoochee River Park on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate American Indian music, dance, storytelling and crafts.
In its fourth year, the Silverhawk Native American Flute Gathering drew an estimated 1,000 people on its first day - the biggest yet.
The event, sponsored by the Florida Native American Indian Society and the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department, also featured traditional arts and crafts, food and allowed people to camp for the weekend.
But music - principally, the flute - is what sets the gathering apart and drew people from several states away.
