Gaither senior libero Elissa Hausmann is one of the digs leaders in the state. She has committed to play for Florida Gulf Coast University.
You play volleyball and flag football. Which sport is more difficult to play?
Volleyball is harder to play because there's only six people on the court at one time and in flag football, there's a bunch. You touch the ball almost on every play in volleyball. In flag football it's more like, once every drive you get a good play.
And you also play the saxophone in the school's marching band?
Obviously I enjoy volleyball more than the marching band, but it was something I just added on that I can do. It's hard to do during volleyball season because of the time, but I try to work it out with my coaches. They're very understanding how I handle my time with both.
Do you have any stories about band camp?
Laughs I just go one week out of the summer. You play all day, you march in the hot sun for half a day and you play inside the other half. It's kind of fun. It's not my favorite thing to do. I'd rather be playing volleyball.
How many classes are you currently taking?
Eight, well seven right now because I took one online in the summer ... four AP classes and then honors and then band.
What are your career goals?
Health science. I either want to do occupational therapy or physical therapy.
