TAMPA - Berkeley Prep took the top spot in both Class 1A-District 7 diving competitions Monday at Berkeley Prep.
Kyle Dent scored 426.50 (a Berkeley Prep school record) to win the boys event, with Marcelo Garcia of Jesuit second (404.95). Both divers automatically advance to next week's region meet. Others will advance based on scores from the other two districts.
In the girls competition, Berkeley's Marni Tuchman scored 408.10 to earn district champion honors, followed by Kaliya Burton-Albright of Tampa Prep (402.60).
Class 3A-District 4 diving is 1 p.m. today at Copeland Pool, while district swimming begins today at Berkeley Prep - qualifying at 9 a.m. with the finals starting at 5:30 p.m.
