GAINESVILLE - University of Florida DT Brandon Antwine will not play on Saturday against Kentucky, Coach Urban Meyer said.
Meyer said the sophomore has not practiced for a few days because of low back pain.
Antwine sat out of the Tennessee game earlier this season with a hyperextended elbow.
OL Carl Johnson left Wednesday's practice wearing a boot because of a sprained ankle. Meyer said he's not sure about severity of the injury.
HARVIN'S BUDDY: WR Percy Harvin and former NFL star Cris Carter have bonded during the several times Carter has visited the Gators.
Meyer said Harvin has had his best practice of the season this week and believes that, besides being healthy, part of the reason may stem from Carter's influence.
"They talk to each other and they spent some time together," Meyer said. "Cris always talks about taking your game to the next level. Percy is one of those guys that admires guys like Cris Carter."
NEWTON ACHING: Backup QB Cameron Newton sprained his left ankle last week, but offensive coordinator Dan Mullen said Monday that Newton has been throwing and should be ready to play Saturday. If Newton can't play, Mullen said junior Bryan Waggener would back up starter Tim Tebow. Tebow has played every offensive down since Newton made a brief appearance against Tennessee on Sept. 15.
The freshman had been using a walking boot for several days, but was free of the boot Wednesday and instead had his ankle heavily taped.
