Cashing In And Giving Thanks

HUDSON - Thanksgiving is only five weeks away, and bowlers who want to escape their relatives or attempt to work up an appetite for the day's feast can do so at Hudson Bowl.

The center will host its annual Thanksgiving Day tournament, a 10-game scratch format, on Nov. 22. One in every four bowlers will win money; last year's first prize was $275.

The tournament is limited to the first 26 bowlers who register. The tournament begins at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $50.

LOCAL STARS: Several Pasco County bowlers competed in the PBA South region tournament Oct. 6-7 at Lane Glo Bowl in Port Richey. Darin Hayes of Wesley Chapel placed 12th, the highest of any county bowler, winning $500.

Other county bowlers who competed, according to PBA.com, were Stephen Rodriquez (13th place, $500), Land O' Lakes' Jeffrey Roberson (14th, $500), Port Richey's Rich Garner (23rd, $400), Port Richey's Peter Hernandez (45th), Hudson's Ron Woods (71st), New Port Richey's Mark Every (78th), Zephyrhills' Stephen Graves (79th), Zephyrhills' Tom Coye (80th) and Lutz's Steven Ring (89th).

TOP SCORES: A pair of bowlers recorded top scores at Hudson Bowl recently. Mitul Patel rolled his first perfect game Thursday night during an 809 series. Victoria Primosch had a 266-672.

NORTH-SOUTH TOURNAMENT: The October addition of the Lane Glo Bowl vs. Lane Glo North tournament called the North-South Tournament resumes Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. at Lane Glo North.

Bowlers from each center's leagues compete against each other with four games at Lane Glo North followed by four games at Lane Glo Bowl in New Port Richey.

This month's edition starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost for each bowler is $30.
