At this year's Department of Florida Marine Corps League conference in New Port Richey, the Holiday Marine Corps Detachment 567 distributed two tricycles to girls with special needs.
The weekend event drew more than 200 attendees from across the state.
The donated tricycles' design is altered, with four wheels on the rear, a car seat with seat belts, and foot holders. They are driven by pedals on the handlebars.
The Marines have presented 31 of these tricycles this year, and two are still available for donation. The program has distributed 400 tricycles since its inception in 1998. The Elks Lodge 2284 and Full Circle Financial Services pitched in to donate the vehicles, which cost $200 each.
