YBOR CITY - A jury took about 90 minutes Wednesday to convict Onassis George on a charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Howard A. Williams outside an Ybor City nightclub earlier this year.
Circuit Judge Barbara Fleischer sentenced George, 29, to life in prison.
On May 20, security guards at club Empire asked George and Williams to leave after they got into a fight, according to police reports.
About 2:40 a.m., Williams, 28, and some friends were walking to their car when George pulled a gun. George fired four times, striking Williams in the upper chest once. Police arrested George.
Williams died four days later.
