The woman who was hit by a sport utility vehicle Friday night in Hudson while pushing a 3-year-old in a stroller has died.
Denise Young, 44, of Hudson, was walking with the toddler north on Hicks Road with her back to traffic, said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Larry Coggins. As she approached Dan Street with the stroller about 8:50 p.m., she and the little girl were hit by the SUV.
'They both fell to the ground, and the baby was ejected from the stroller,' Coggins said Wednesday.
Both were flown to Bayfront Medical Center, where Young died this week. The child is listed in serious condition, Coggins said.
Coggins said that the toddler might not be Young's daughter. Investigators told him Young might have been in the process of adopting her or being her foster mother.
Driver of the 2005 Kia Sorento SUV, Sandra Fox, 39, of Hudson, wasn't injured.
The case is still being investigated. However, preliminary information shows Young might have been at fault because she wasn't walking against traffic as the law requires, Coggins said.
