THE DIFFERENCE: Plant junior quarterback Aaron Murray, who had 20 touchdowns entering the game, threw six - all in the first half. Three of those scores went to senior wideout Derek Winter and two others, including a 44-yard strike on the final play of the first half, went to Cornelius Gallon.
GAME NOTES: Of Plant's 54 first-half points, 47 came on drives of 2:20, 8 seconds, 11 seconds, 31 seconds, 47 seconds, 3:12 and 1:17 for a total of just 8 minutes, 26 seconds. The other score, a 56-yard punt return by Cornelius Gallon, took just 8 seconds. … Murray has now completed 107 of 169 passes this season for 1,989 yards and 26 touchdowns against just one interception.
STAT OF THE GAME: Plant's relentless defense held Leto to just 51 total yards, including 10 rushing on 23 attempts, and just three first downs. The unit was directly responsible for the outstanding field position the Panthers' offense enjoyed all game.
