Francis Ford Coppola - who directed Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in 'The Godfather' trilogy - says the Oscar-winning actors, along with Jack Nicholson, have become apathetic.
'I don't feel that kind of passion to do a role and be great coming from those guys, because if it was there, they would do it! I mean, they're all in a position to do it,' the 68-year-old filmmaker tells GQ magazine in November's issue, on newsstands Tuesday.
'Pacino always wanted to do theater. He wanted to do 'Peer Gynt.' He wanted to do Shakespeare. Pacino will say, 'Oh, I was raised next to a furnace in New York, and I'm never going to L.A.,' but they all live off the fat of the land,' Coppola says.
He calls De Niro 'wealthy and powerful' - and more ambitious than Nicholson.
'I think if there was a role that De Niro was hungry for, he would come after it. I don't think Jack would,' he says. 'Jack has money and influence and girls, and I think he's a little bit like Marlon Brando, except Brando went through some tough times.'
Adds Coppola: 'I don't know what any of them want anymore.'
'Hitsville USA' Gets A New Address
A section of the street where the Motown sound originated has been renamed for Berry Gordy Jr., the music label's legendary founder.
The Detroit City Council unanimously voted to give a section of West Grand Boulevard the name, Berry Gordy Jr. Boulevard, Councilwoman Martha Reeves said Wednesday in a statement.
Berry Gordy Jr. Boulevard will stretch west from the John C. Lodge Freeway to Grand River Avenue. It includes the block where 'Hitsville USA,' Gordy's former home and Motown recording studio, stands.
A dedication ceremony is planned today.
'This is a dream come true for me, to succeed in a venture that has been in my heart since my days at Motown,' said Reeves, an original member of the Motown group, Martha and the Vandellas.
Goodman Treated At Rehab Clinic
John Goodman has checked out of rehab after being treated for an undisclosed reason. It was unclear how long the actor was treated or when he was released.
'For my family and myself, I voluntarily took the necessary steps to remain sober the rest of my life,' Goodman said in a statement issued by his publicist, Stan Rosenfield.
Goodman left Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, 'Entertainment Tonight' reported Wednesday on its Web site.
Goodman, 55, is best known for playing Dan Conner on the hit sitcom 'Roseanne' in the 1980s and '90s. His film credits include 'The Big Lebowski,' 'The Flintstones' and 'The Babe.'
Britney Loses Visitation Rights
Britney Spears can't even visit her children now.
The troubled pop star may not see 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James - who are in the custody of Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline - until she complies with a court order, Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled.
The order, dated Wednesday, does not spell out what directives Spears defied. A hearing in the matter was scheduled for Oct. 26.
In the past, Gordon has reprimanded Spears for not complying with other court orders, repeatedly saying that she lost primary custody to Federline due to her own choices.
