TAMPA - Police arrested a boater found stranded north of the Courtney Campbell Parkway boat ramp early today.
Clearwater Fire Rescue workers got a call from a woman about 1:45 a.m. who said her husband's boat was taking on water. Clearwater Fire Rescue and Tampa police responded.
After he was rescued, the man became combative and threatened his rescuers by swinging a boat anchor, police say.
Police requested a field sobriety test, which they say the boater refused.
Police arrested him and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana and operating a boat while impaired.
The boater's name has not been released.
