THE DIFFERENCE: The Hurricanes offense was unable to put together any sustained drives. Their lack of a ground or passing game allowed the Saints to control the ball for most of the game.
GAME NOTES: Down 3-0 after one quarter, Bishop McLaughlin battled back in the second quarter to take a 9-3 halftime lead. Wide receiver Nick Hellman leaped high to grab a floater from quarterback Jeff Pope, then he beat four defenders downfield for a 47-yard touchdown. … The Hurricanes' Matt Gronau set a school record with a 44-yard field goal. … In the second half, the valiant Hurricanes defense ran out of gas, allowing 187 yards on the ground.
STAT OF THE GAME: Bishop McLaughlin managed only 14 yards rushing on 20 carries.
