Smith Powers UCF Past Tulsa, 44-23

ORLANDO - UCF running back Kevin Smith had 170 yards on 33 carries with four touchdowns in the Golden Knights' 44-23 win against Tulsa on Saturday.

Smith entered the game the nation's fifth-leading rusher with 108.1 yards per game. He had a 13-yard score in the second quarter and a 15-yard touchdown reception on the next drive. The reception was the junior's first career receiving touchdown. Smith added a 4-yard score in the third and a 44-yard scamper in fourth.

Smith moved past former UCF running back Willie English for sole possession of second in career rushing touchdowns (30) and rushing yards (3,197) in program history. Smith also surpassed 1,000 yards for the season, finishing with 1,085 through seven games and picked up his 15th career 100-plus yard rushing game.

Tulsa (4-3, 2-2 Conference USA) struck first as quarterback Paul Smith hit receiver Jesse Meyer for a 7-yard score. UCF (4-3, 2-1) quickly tied it when quarterback Kyle Israel scrambled for a 22-yard touchdown.

Israel opened the game by going 8-for-8 for 52 yards and finished 21-for-29 for 224 yards. The Golden Hurricane's Smith went 34-for-56 for 316 yards.

WINSTON-SALEM 14, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 9: Monte Purvis passed for a touchdown while directing two scoring drives to take Winston-Salem (4-3) past host Bethune-Cookman.

The win was Winston-Salem's first vs. Bethune-Cookman. It was the fourth straight loss for the Wildcats (2-5).

Purvis, whose TD pass was a 14-yarder to Bryant Bayne, threw for 96 yards and ran for 72 more.

After a scoreless first quarter, Bethune-Cookman struck first when Lucas Esquivel kicked a 47-yard field goal - the longest of his career. It came at the end of a 39-yard, 13-play drive, providing the Wildcats a 3-0 advantage at 12:45 of the second quarter.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC 39, LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE 32: Rusty Smith passed for 308 yards and four touchdowns, including the one that let Florida Atlantic tie a back-and-forth game at the buzzer, and Charles Pierre scored from 1 yard in overtime as the Owls beat host Louisiana-Lafayette .

Louisiana-Lafayette (1-7, 1-3 Sun Belt) had tied the game at 25 with 7:47 left, then went ahead 32-25 on Michael Desormeaux's 32-yard touchdown run with 1:03 left.

But Smith, who finished 26 of 45, hit Cortez Gent with the scoring pass. FAU (4-3, 3-0) considered a 2-point conversion, but after a timeout kicked the extra point to send the game into overtime.

LOUISIANA-MONROE 28, FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 14: Darrell McNeal scored three TDs and Kinsmon Lancaster threw for 237 yards to lead Louisiana-Monroe (2-5, 2-2 Sun Belt) past visiting Florida International (0-7, 0-3).

McNeal had seven catches for a career-high 120 yards for the Warhawks, including TD passes of 14 and 3 yards from Lancaster. McNeal also ran in a score from 13 yards out.

Florida International opened the scoring with a 23-yard touchdown run by Julian Reams.
