Polk Deputies Seek Clues In Auburndale Robbery

Authorities need information about an armed robbery at Ariana Market on Lake Alfred Road in Auburndale on Oct. 10.

No arrests have been made in the 9:30 p.m. robbery, which was caught on videotape.

Authorities are looking for two men who entered the store at 1002 Lake Alfred Road and approached the clerk behind the counter, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. One of the men poked a silver-colored handgun under the cashier's window at the clerk and demanded money. When the clerk attempted to comply, the man pulled the trigger, but the weapon did not fire.

Both men then tried to pound their way into the locked glass booth where the cashier stood, a sheriff's news release states. They stopped and fled when a customer walked in.

The bandits were black men. One had short hair, a beard, was about 6 feet tall and weighed about 260 pounds. The other was about 5 feet tall, had medium length braided hair and wore a bandanna to cover his face, the release states.
