TAMPA - The University of South Florida's chance for a national title and its 15 minutes of national fame ended with the Bulls' loss at Rutgers.
But with the Big East title and a BCS bowl game still attainable, No. 11 USF (6-1, 1-1) has to quickly put the Rutgers loss behind it and focus on Saturday's game at Connecticut (6-1, 2-0).
"You have to get [the loss] out of your system," WR Amarri Jackson said. "If you look back at the Rutgers game, then we'll lose this one. We have to be ready for UConn."
Bulls coach Jim Leavitt believes it's important to bounce back strong after a deflating loss.
"You want to come back and play awfully good football," Leavitt said. "It is a very big week."
!MORE MOFFITT: Senior LB Ben Moffitt is among 17 quarterfinalists for the 2007 Lott Trophy, which honors college football's Defensive Impact Player of the Year. The players are judged on on-field and off-field performance. Moffitt also is in the running for the Butkus Award, given to the country's top linebacker.
!STARTING DEBUT: Freshman WR Dontavia Bogan will make his first career start Saturday, filling in for Taurus Johnson (ankle), who is out two to three weeks.
"When TJ went down last Thursday, I felt like I was ready," said Bogan, who has five catches for 56 yards. "I feel good [about starting]. I just have to prepare myself this week at practice to get ready for UConn."
