TAMPA - University of South Florida RT Walt Walker, who was absent from Monday's practice, will be out two to four weeks with a MCL sprain in his right knee.
Walker, a 6-foot-5, 333-pound senior who has started every game this season, suffered the injury in the third quarter of USF's 30-27 loss at Rutgers.
Early in Monday's workout, Marc Dile, who's started every game at left guard, lined up at right guard, with Jared Carnes taking over at left guard.
''We have a number of things we can do,'' Bulls coach Jim Leavitt said. ''Carnes is our first alternative.''
In other injury news, WR Taurus Johnson, who is expected to be out two to three weeks with a right ankle injury, watched practice while wearing a protective boot.
With Johnson out, freshman Dontavia Bogan, who had three catches for 52 yards against Rutgers, should see an increase in playing time.
''He's a mature kid, he runs good routes, he blocks,'' Leavitt said of Bogan.
A ''wrenched back'' has slowed junior OL Matt Huners' comeback attempt from a torn ACL suffered in the Spring Game, Leavitt said.
TV NEWS: ESPN/ABC has used its six-day window option for USF's Nov. 3 game with Cincinnati, meaning the earliest a network and game time will be known will be Sunday.
Also, Thursday's USF-Rutgers game set an all-time high rating for a Bulls game televised by ESPN/ESPN2. The 3.39 rating (approximately 3.25 million viewers) is the highest Big East rating on ESPN or ESPN2 this season, topping the 2.72 for USF's game against West Virginia.
