PINELLAS PARK - A former Illinois public defender was arrested this week on charges that he stole from clients while in private practice in Union County, Ill., the Illinois attorney general's office announced this week.
Patrick Cox, 57, of Anna, Ill., was being held on a warrant charging him with larceny, Pinellas County Jail records show. He was being held at Pinellas County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
Cox is a former Union County public defender, a former candidate for state attorney in Union County, and a former city attorney for Cairo, Ill. The warrant alleges he stole money from clients in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
