NEW PORT RICHEY - The SPCA Suncoast offers a month of 'howliday' fun with thousands of lights, open houses, low-cost microchips and photos with Santa Claws, or rather, Claus.
Help brighten the future for homeless animals by sponsoring a light in honor or memory of a loved one or pet for $10, or see the family's name on a dog or cat kennel for a $100 sponsorship.
Receive a free Animal Planet dog or cat sitter DVD with a gift of $20 or more while supplies last.
'The SPCA has really been through some rough times,' said Traci Theis, director of shelter relations for Animal Planet Pet Video. 'The community has not been very involved, so we really want to raise awareness and raise some much needed funds.'
Here's the Howliday Festival of Lights schedule:
• 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30 - grand lighting ceremony and open house, an adopt-a-thon and free Animal Planet ID tags.
• Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 - open house and $15 microchip clinic.
• 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 and 22 - pet pictures with Santa.
• New lights will be added throughout December.
Sponsorships are still available for: Kitty Kabana or canine quarters, $2,500; tree in the lobby, $1,000; Mini Mutt Adoption Room, $500; dog or cat greeting room, $250; adoptable pet, $100; and individual lights, $10 each.
