PLANT CITY - One Plant City event that was heavily promoted last Halloween is nowhere to be seen this October.
There won't be an encore for Jackobury, which featured haunted trails and spooky special effects.
Jackobury drew more than 2,000 visitors to Urban Forest Park, a 72-acre park west of Plant City Stadium, and brought in about $20,000. City officials decided against staging Jackobury this year because of development of the park's hiking trails, pavilions and picnic areas.
'The city engineer is not finished with surveying, path building and road construction in the Urban Forest Park,' Jack Holland, recreation and parks director, said recently. 'Asking them to vacate the project to use the property for a Halloween event would be counterproductive.'
City Engineer Brett Gocka said there are safety concerns, such as debris piles.
