HAINES CITY - Police are asking for help locating two men who they suspect brandished handguns while robbing two separate used car lots.

"We are pleading for the Haines City community to come together to assist this agency," Chief of Police Morris West said.

Police released surveillance video from the second robbery on Friday at A Code Car Sales located at 1809 U.S. 17/92 N. The robbery happened at about 3 p.m.

The two men first asked the owner for the price of a vehicle on the lot. Then they walked around the lot, before storming the sales office a short time later with handguns, according to police.

The video shows one of the men pointing a gun at a female clerk in the office. He held the gun to the back of the woman's neck as he led her into a bathroom.

Two other employees were forced to give up their money and cell phones. They were also forced into the restroom and told to wait before calling the police.

The suspects drove off in an older-model silver two-door Honda Civic.

Police believe the suspects could be involved in other crimes in the area.

"We have some intelligence that other agencies are investigating robberies similar to the ones we have," West said. "Whoever can help us can help the other agencies as well."

The first robbery occurred on October 17 at Regional Wholesale Quality Cars at 630 U.S. 17/92 W. Just like the A Code Car Sales robbery, two men pretended to be interested in a car before pointing a gun at an employee and demanding money.

West described the men as "very dangerous" and believes someone in the city may know them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Haines City police at 863-421-3636. A reward is being offered.
