Regarding 'Baseball's War On Bedtime' (Other Views, Oct. 19):
I can totally relate to the article by Philip Lerman discussing how fathers watch the baseball playoffs without their sons. My 7-year-old son loves the Red Sox and at most he will be able to see about three innings of each World Series game. When I was a kid they still had some day World Series games.
The NLCS which was recently completed with Colorado and Arizona had two game times that began after 10 p.m. EDT. I saw one game which ended at 2:45 a.m. EDT.
During the regular season all baseball teams start their games by 7:30 p.m. local time. There is no reason not to continue this in the playoffs. I used to live in California and people who would like to see the games can still see the end of them by 8 p.m. PDT.
Otherwise, we will see baseball viewership continue its decline toward that of lesser sports.
