The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha may dress in demure white gowns for sorority formals, but the behavior of members from the University of Florida's chapter during a recent visit to Tampa's famed Columbia restaurant was anything but ladylike.
These girls in white have given a black eye to their sorority, and sadly their school.
The manager of the restaurant has complained that most of the 250 sorority girls and their dates arrived at the Ybor City restaurant drunk. They then proceeded to fight amongst themselves, vandalize the restaurant and leave vomit in 'various parts of the restaurant.' Fed up with their crude behavior, the Columbia kicked them out.
The chapter is now under investigation by the university and their national sorority. The sorority's national office has apologized to the Columbia and offered to pay for damages.
The UF chapter also has been banned from any activities involving alcohol - hopefully their ultimate punishment will be more substantial than making these girls step away from their vodka cocktails for a moment.
Some of the sisters blame their loutish dates for the damage, but ultimately Zeta Tau Alpha sisters stand responsible for this event gone wild. And girls, you will soon learn it doesn't matter how much charity work you do if you treat others with disrespect in the name of fun.
You didn't just trash a fine restaurant. You trashed your sorority's fine reputation.
