TAMPA - Riding in a car headed the wrong way down a one-way street early Saturday led to the arrest of a St. Petersburg nurse and her companion by Tampa Police, authorities said.
At 4:30 a.m., police performed a traffic stop on a car driven by Luis Santos Zalvala at Florida Avenue and East Kay Street.. Zalvala, 28, of Tampa, was arrested on a driving under the influence charge.
He had no alcohol in his system, and authorities are awaiting the results of lab tests on his urine, according to jail records. He remained in Orient Road Jail on Saturday on $500 bail.
His passenger, Lisa Kay Fetters, a 28-year-old nurse, was gathering her things together in the front passenger seat when she left the car to go talk to Zalvala, police said.
Officers searched her purse and the area behind her seat and found 18 Xanax pills, a prescription anxiety medication, and eight Soma pills, a powerful muscle relaxer, the arrest report said. Police said they also found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Fetters faces a total of 28 charges and remained in Orient Road Jail on $53,000 bail.
