While working to catch two armed robbery suspects, a K-9 handler for the Polk County Sheriff's Office was bitten by a fellow deputy's canine partner, according to the sheriff's office.
The deputy was bitten once on the left forearm and may need a stitch or two, a sheriff's office release states.
The suspects have been caught, but no further details about them were immediately available, according to the release.
The sheriff's office worked with Auburndale police this evening to catch the suspects.
The suspects fled from Auburndale police after robbing a Wal-Mart on U.S. 19, the release states.
Stopsticks were deployed in the area of Saddle Creek Road, but the suspects continued to drive in the Walker Circle Road area before running from their vehicle, the release states.
