Jackson, Ford Unable To Practice

Published: October 29, 2007

TAMPA - University of South Florida WR Amarri Jackson (knee) was not at practice Monday, while RB Mike Ford (rib) was, but not in pads and didn't participate in workouts. He did, however, run gingerly in post-practice conditioning.

USF coach Jim Leavitt said Jackson had a ''sore knee'' and Ford was ''sore.''

Jackson injured his right knee in the second quarter of Saturday's game at Connecticut, while Ford suffered his injury in the fourth and had to be taken to a Hartford hospital.

Leavitt said he wasn't sure about either player's status for this weekend's game against Cincinnati.

Receivers coach Mike Canales said there was no serious damage to Jackson's knee and his absence from practice was a precautionary measure.

''He's OK. He took a big shot. He's lucky he didn't lose the knee,'' Canales said. ''If he can't go Saturday, then someone else will step in and we'll go from there.''

In other injury news, RT Walt Walker (knee) and WR Taurus Johnson (ankle), who both missed the UConn game, aren't expected to play against
the Bearcats.

''They'll try as hard as they can for Saturday, but I don't know if that'll be enough time,'' Leavitt said.

TV TIME: USF's Nov. 10 game at Syracuse will kick off at noon and be televised on Channel 28, WFTS-ABC.
