TAMPA - Police arrested three men on felony burglary charges this morning after finding two stolen catalytic converters and battery powered saws in their vehicle, arrest affidavits state.
About 12:23 a.m., Tampa police pulled over a 1988 Chevrolet at North Tampa Street and West Virginia Avenue after the car ran a stop sign, the affidavits state. The officer noticed the catalytic converters and the saws in the car and questioned the occupants.
One of them, Edgar Colon Serrano, 25, of Tampa, told police they had stolen the converters from vehicles at 4301 W. Alva St., intending to split the proceeds three ways, the affidavits state.
The catalytic converters are worth about $350 each, the affidavits state.
Police arrested Serrano; Norberto DeJesus-Colon, 20, of Tampa; and Armando Serrano-Colon, 22, of Tampa, records show.
All are charged with two felony counts of burglary, felony grand theft and possession of burglary tools.
Jail records show they were being held at Orient Road Jail this morning, with bail set at $8,000 for each.
The catalytic converters are worth about $350 each, the affidavits state.
