ZEPHYRHILLS - City residents will have expanded dining options in the next few months.
The old Suburban Propane storefront, sandwiched between Zephyrhills Cinema 10 and Pin Chaser's bowling alley on northern Gall Boulevard, has been demolished to make way for a Cici's Pizza restaurant, which features a pizza buffet for less than $5.
The pizzeria will sit beside a five-unit strip center. The tenants for those shops have not been announced yet, building official Bill Burgess said Monday.
The restaurant likely will open before the summer, he said.
Two other Zephyrhills restaurants are to receive makeovers. Chili's, at 7643 Gall Blvd., plans to add 40 seats to its dining area. Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q, at 6606 Gall Blvd., will be re-built with more dining space and parking just east of its current location, according to preliminary plans filed with city hall.
Northern Gall Boulevard isn't the only area getting new eateries. A new restaurant, Sharon's Place, opened this week at 4917 Gall Blvd., a storefront that has been vacant for almost three years.
City officials are eager to attract new business to the older, southern end of Zephyrhills. In recent years, big-box stores and chain restaurants have been drawn to the former pastures and citrus groves off northern Gall. Southern Zephyrhills could get a boost in coming years, as Ruck's Dairy turns into a large housing and shopping development.
