TAMPA - Three Tampa men have been charged with carrying out a spree of armed robberies in Tampa, Seffner and Brandon, their crimes growing increasingly violent and culminating in the stabbing of a man, deputies say.
Four of the incidents took place this weekend; another occurred Oct. 19.
The men facing robbery and aggravated battery charges are: Andre Tyrone Crouch, 20; Anthony Elroy Mormon, 20; and Eric Brown, 24.
Several of the robbery victims were teenagers, and the oldest was 29, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. When approached by the men, the victims were walking, jogging or sitting in a parked vehicle.
The men would approach the victims and, with the aid of a knives or physical force, would steal personal property or cash, Carter said.
Other men also may have been involved in the five incidents, according to the sheriff's office.
"We will potentially be making other arrests," Carter said.
On Saturday in Tampa, two victims were sitting parked in a car when they were approached by the men. Crouch brandished a knife and demanded money, a criminal arrest affidavit states.
The men obtained more than $300 from the victims. Crouch then beat one of the victims unconscious and stabbed the person several times in the thigh area, the affidavit states. The other victim, a woman, also was beaten.
The stabbing victim initially was placed in intensive care, according to the affidavit. He is in better health now, Carter said.
Crouch was arrested Tuesday; Mormon and Brown were arrested Monday.
All three remain in Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
