DADE CITY - The Dade City Garden Club will host its second Fall Garden Tour and Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The self-guided tour features five private gardens. Maps will be available for $10 at the clubhouse, 13630 Fifth St.; there's no charge for children accompanied by an adult.
Light refreshments will be available at the clubhouse, as well as membership and gardening information. There also are seven garden rooms on the club grounds and a brick-paved patio with an arbor, used for outdoor weddings and photographs.
A basket of herbal goodies will be offered for a drawing.
The tour is arranged so that visitors may stroll through each garden at their own pace before proceeding to the next, a news release stated. All five of the gardens are on large parcels, with several divided into 'garden rooms' offering varying vistas and compositions.
Among the many plants featured are gingers, clerodendrums, tea olive, bromeliads, large gardenias and other species.
The two gardens in Lake Jovita have different settings: one gives the feel of a Tuscan villa, while the other would fit perfectly in the English countryside, the release stated. Several of the gardens will be staffed by master gardeners to assist in plant identification and culture.
At the clubhouse, the patio and the gardens have been refurbished. The building and grounds are available for rental. Call (352) 567-3118.
Details on the garden tour are available at (352) 521-6886.
