LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Jesuit product Anthony Allen rushed for a school-record 275 yards and two scores, and Brian Brohm threw for a career-high 401 yards and five touchdowns as No. 8 Louisville avoided a major upset by surviving Middle Tennessee 58-42 Thursday night.

Mario Urrutia, Gary Barnidge and Harry Douglas each topped 100 yards receiving as the Cardinals (2-0) extended the nation's second-longest home winning streak to 20 games. The Blue Raiders (0-2) never led.

Despite Brohm being at his efficient best, the Blue Raiders - who managed all of 217 yards in a season-opening loss to Florida Atlantic - nearly matched the high-powered Cardinals in a game that featured 1,284 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns.

CINCINNATI 34, OREGON ST. 3: Freshman Marcus Barnett caught a touchdown pass and recovered a blocked punt in the end zone as host Cincinnati (2-0) beat OSU (1-1).

WVU's Rodriguez Signs 1-Year Extension

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez has signed a contract extension that makes hefty retirement contributions and commitments for millions of dollars in facility improvements.

The signing extends his contract one year through the 2013 season and includes more than $1.4 million in compensation and benefits annually.

KENTUCKY: Free safety Marcus McClinton is recovering from a sprained ankle and will miss Saturday night's game against Kent State.

MISSISSIPPI: Defensive lineman Jerrell Powe was denied in his quest to play at the school for the third time when the NCAA rejected the final appeals of the school and the learning-disabled prized recruit.

SOUTH CAROLINA: Blake Mitchell will return to his starting quarterback spot this weekend against No. 11 Georgia. Mitchell missed the opener last week because of a one-game academic suspension for missing too many classes during the summer.

TENNESSEE: Coach Phillip Fulmer said junior punter Britton Colquitt is still hindered by a leg injury, leaving the two kickers from last week likely to play Saturday. Backup punter Chad Cunningham and freshman kicker Daniel Lincoln struggled in the season-opening loss to Cal.
