THE DIFFERENCE: After Davonte Davis recovered a Bloomingdale fumble at the Bulls' 17 with 10 seconds to go in the third quarter, Spoto's Mondo Purcell scored from 4 yards out to give the Spartans a 14-point lead and eventually their first varsity victory.

GAME NOTES: Bloomingdale committed only three turnovers a week after committing one on each of its first five possessions against Tampa Bay Tech. … The Bulls scored their first offensive touchdown of the season late in the second quarter on Jose Alvarez's 25-yard touchdown pass to Greg LaClair. … Spoto's first touchdown was its first as a varsity program. The Spartans played a JV schedule in 2006. … QB Jamaurice Burgess threw two TD passes, both from 15 yards out. … The Spartan defense sacked Alvarez for losses of 9 and 3 yards late in the fourth quarter to take the Bulls out of the game.

STAT OF THE GAME: The two teams combined for 21 penalties for 136 yards.
