Pianist Leon Fleisher, actor Steve Martin, singers Diana Ross and Brian Wilson and film director Martin Scorsese will share the 30th annual honors of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in December.
'With their extraordinary talent, creativity and perseverance, the five 2007 honorees have transformed the way we, as Americans, see, hear and feel the performing arts,' Kennedy Center chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman said Tuesday in announcing the honorees. 'We will forever be thankful for the great gift they have shared with us.'
President Bush and the first lady will host the honorees Dec. 2, before attending a gala performance and supper dance at the Kennedy Center. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will present the honors at a State Department dinner the night before.
The Kennedy Center honors will be recorded and broadcast Dec. 26 for the 30th consecutive year on CBS as a two-hour prime-time special.
J.T. Postpones Shows To Rest Voice
Justin Timberlake has been ordered to rest his voice.
Timberlake's strained voice is the result of his performance Sunday at MTV's Video Music Awards in Las Vegas and months of touring, Jive Records said in a statement Tuesday.
A doctor ordered several days of vocal rest for Timberlake, forcing the 26-year-old singer to miss shows in Sacramento, Calif., on Monday and San Jose, Calif., today.
Tour promoter AEG Live has rescheduled the shows for Sept. 23 in San Jose and Sept. 25 in Sacramento.
D-List Comic Makes Catholic Group's F-List
Before Kathy Griffin won a creative arts Emmy last weekend for her reality show, 'My Life on the D-List,' she joked that an award would move her to the C-list.
She was right: 'C' as in censored. The TV academy said her raucous acceptance speech will be edited when the event is shown Saturday on the E! channel. The prime-time Emmy Awards air Sunday on Fox.
'Kathy Griffin's offensive remarks will not be part of the E! telecast on Saturday night,' the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said in a statement Monday.
In her speech, Griffin said that 'a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus.'
She went on to hold up her Emmy, make an off-color remark about Christ and proclaim, 'This award is my god now!'
Catholic League President Bill Donohue called the comedian's remarks a 'vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech.'

The site reported the 23-year-old actress flicked a cigarette butt from her Mercedes while driving on a Los Angeles freeway. When officers approached, they 'noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle.'
Police administered a battery of sobriety tests, after which Storms was charged with DUI. She was booked at Van Nuys Jail and later released on $5,000 bail.
