GAINESVILLE - Florida coach Urban Meyer has taken careful notes from Tennessee's opener against then-No. 12 California.
What he learned? Don't allow one big play.
'I just have great respect for Cal,' Meyer said Thursday afternoon. 'That whole game was turned around on a punt return for a touchdown.'
Junior WR DeSean Jackson's 77-yard punt return against the Volunteers opened up the game for California.
Florida's two blocked punts against Troy were huge for the Gators, and Meyer is hoping to eliminate Tennessee from generating that sort of game-changing momentum Saturday.
'It's excruciating,' Meyer said of blocked punts. 'It's maybe one of the most painful things to watch. Fortunately it doesn't happen very often around here.
'On a scale of momentum changers, one to 10, that's either a one or two. That and turnovers.'
MORE FROM MOORE: Meyer is expecting junior RB Kestahn Moore to have a repeat performance of his production during last week's game.
Moore averaged 5.2 yards on 15 carries and rushed for two touchdowns against Troy.
Meyer said Moore's solid play is a testament to his conditioning and strength training during the offseason.
