PLANT CITY - Lake Walden Square has a new owner, but a spokesman says there's nothing to announce on the center's shuttered movie theater.
Developers Diversified Realty announced Monday it had sold the 262,000-sqaure-foot plaza straddling Alexander Street west of James L. Redman Parkway to its joint venture partner, Macquarie DDR Trust, for $23 million.
The shopping center includes a Sweetbay Supermarket and the closed Lake Walden Cinema 8. Plant City was left without a theater when Carmike Cinema closed earlier this year. The theater had been in operation at the location since the early 1990s.
In an e-mail response to an inquiry about the closed movie house, a corporate spokesman wrote, there's "nothing to announce on the theater space at this time."
In May, Developers Diversified said potential tenants were looking at the theater, but few details were released.
