TAMPA A 35-year-old man apprehended Saturday, two hours after he allegedly forced his way into a residence and robbed the two occupants, also was wanted in the fatal stabbing of a Ruskin man in July, Tampa police said.
According to the robbery report, at 2:44 p.m. a man knocked on the door at 10002 N. 29th St. and, once the door was opened, shoved Robert Ivey, 71, to the floor. The attacker stepped over Ivey and grabbed Ivey's wife, Marie, 67.
The attacker, who implied he had a weapon, tied the couple with a vacuum cleaner cord, stole $10 to $20, the couple's bank card and the keys to their 2000 Buick LeSabre, police said.
Once free, the victims notified police, who issued an alert for the car. At 4:35 p.m., police spotted the car at North Nebraska Avenue and East Chelsea Street, boxed it in and arrested Jarvis Sylvester Tabron, whose address is unknown.
Tabron, a former carnival worker, also was wanted in the fatal stabbing July 19 of Luis Escobar, a week after he moved into the home of the 54-year-old man. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office named Tabron as a suspect after allegedly finding his bloody fingerprints at Escobar's home, 409 Fifth Ave. S.
Tabron was released July 1 from state prison, where he served time on a probation violation after a strong-arm robbery conviction in Hillsborough County in 2004.
Authorities also say Tabron is a sex offender who failed to register. He is being held without bail at Orient Road Jail.
The Iveys suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention, the report said.
