The Consumer Product Safety Commission today announced the recall of 5,200 Novara Afterburner Trailer bicycles.
The single-wheel children's trailer could detach from the adult-sized bicycle and pose a fall hazard to children. One consumer has experienced the trailer detachment, but no injuries have been reported.
Recreational Equipment Inc. of Kent, Wash., sold the Chinese-made trailers nationwide between February and June. They sold for about $160.
Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the bicycle trailer. A free replacement part or a full refund or credit will be given by visiting an REI store, by calling 1-800-426-4840 between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m. Pacific time, or by going to www.rei.com.
