TAMPA - Tampa lawyer Barry Cohen confirmed Tuesday that he no longer is representing Nick Bollea, the teenage son of famed wrestler Hulk Hogan. Cohen would not say why.
Bollea, 17, is under investigation but has not been charged in the wreck Aug. 26 that left passenger and friend John Graziano, 22, in critical condition. Bollea was driving a Toyota Supra.
The Hogan family first hired DUI specialist J. Kevin Hayslett of Clearwater, but they parted company. Then Cohen was retained.
A lawyer can drop a client, just as a client can drop an attorney, Cohen said, speaking generally. He refused to say which happened in the Bollea case.
"I'm not saying one way or the other," Cohen said. "Don't make any inferences."
It was unclear who, if anyone, was representing represented Bollea as of Tuesday.
Despite being under investigation, Bollea continues to speak in public forums. TMZ.com, a celebrity news Web site, reported that on Sunday, Bollea weighed in on the wreck at a Web site for Supra fans.
Known on the site as Supraman111, Bollea is quoted as saying: "John is expected to make a full recovery its just a slow process for him to wake up because he was in a medically induced coma by a drug, … which takes weeks to wear off.
