TAMPA - An auto repair business owner was arrested and charged with stealing more than $47,000 in unreported sales tax collected from customers, the Florida Department of Revenue announced.
William Mitchell, 40, owner of Z-Fever Inc., 4607-A Lois Ave., was arrested by deputies on Monday, the DOR says in a written statement.

Mitchell collected sales tax from customers November 2003 through January but did not give the money to the state, DOR investigators said.
Mitchell was charged with theft of more than $20,000 and failure to file six consecutive sales tax returns. He was released on $9,500 bail.
If convicted, Mitchell faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines as well as possible repayment of the tax, interest, penalties and investigative costs.
