BARTOW - An Auburndale High School student has tuberculosis and is undergoing treatment, the Polk County Health Department reported Wednesday.
The Polk County School District has notified students and staff who might have been in close contact with the student, whose identity will not be released.
The Polk County Health Department will provide free tuberculin skin tests at Auburndale High School on Tuesday to students and faculty who have been notified of the need for testing.
Individuals who had brief or passing contact with the student do not need testing.
For the people tested, the results will be available Thursday.
TB is contagious, but exposure over a long period is necessary to become infected.
