Robbery Leaves Man Dead, Woman Hurt

CLEARWATER - A man was killed and a woman wounded Tuesday when shots were fired during a drug-related robbery at a home, police said.

Joseph Shaw, 22, was killed during the attack about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Flagler Drive, said Clearwater public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Daly-Watts.

The woman, Shawanda Larry, was in good condition at Bayfront Medical Center, Daly-Watts said.

Tuesday, relatives of Shaw gathered near the home.

'I have a dead grandson,' said Betty Shaw James, 66, his grandmother. 'This crime in these communities and this black-on-black crime needs to stop. It needs to stop, and whoever is listening, we need to send a message that black-on-black crime needs to stop.'

Daly-Watts said police are looking for several people.
