Five questions with Academy of the Holy Names runner Stephanie Socias:
At what age did you start running seriously?
It was actually last year, I was 16. Last year was my first year running cross country and track and I really started to like it. Now I'm really into it. I wish I had started a long time ago.
You also play basketball for Academy. So which do you like better: running or hoops?
I don't know yet. I've been playing basketball for so long it's hard to get away from it.
How long have you been playing basketball?
Forever ... since I was 8.
So what's your goal for this year?
To get better every race, so hopefully I'll get into the 20s 20 minutes for 5k. Maybe place in the top 15 of every race. But mainly for myself, just getting better.
If you could trade places with anyone in the sports world for a day, who would it be?
Roger Federer. He's amazing. He's like a nice person and he works really hard. I watched a special on him and it's amazing how hard he trains. I admire those people who go for hours and hours a day, nonstop.
