Is Fan's Heart On Fire For Busty Vampire Elvira?

Published: September 21, 2007

The e-mail bag runs over again this week, and we at Couch Potato Central are willing to answer even the most trivial of questions.

The favorite query of the week comes from B.L. of Brandon, who asks:

I heard something about Elvira coming back to television. Does she have a Halloween special? And how old is she, anyway?

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, will host the three-episode reality show 'The Search for the Next Elvira,' which begins Oct. 13 and ends on Halloween night. She's judging 13 contestants who want to be just like Elvira. The winner will get to make personal appearances in her name. The show will air on the Fox Reality Channel (found in the upper tiers of the obscure cable universe). Cassandra Peterson, 58, created the busty vampire in 1981 and credits makeup and an industrial-strength push-up bra for her long career. For more info, go to www.elvira.com.

What happened to the show 'Pirate Master'? - K.M., Tampa

The CBS reality competition debuted in May in the hopes that America's love of Johnny Depp's swaggering Capt. Jack Sparrow would rub off on what was essentially a repackaging of 'Survivor.' Alas, the landlubbers skipped it, and by July, 'Pirate Master' had walked the plank. CBS played the remaining episodes online. It ended on Aug. 28. Ben Fagan, a college student and musician from South Carolina, won the $500,000 treasure.

I didn't see 'Old Christine' on the grid for the new season. Is it gone? It's one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud!!! - L.S., Tampa

Wow. Three exclamation points! 'The New Adventures of Old Christine' has not been canceled. The Julia Louis-Dreyfus comedy will be back for a third season on CBS, probably at midseason.

I missed the Emmys, and I was wondering if they will be replayed sometime in the near future? - L.C., Tampa

Apparently, there's not much demand for a replay of the '59th Annual Primetime Emmys,' but, trust me, you don't want to see the whole thing.
